The 22 giant frogs that made up Stockport’s Giant Leap Frog Art Trail throughout the summer are about to hop off to pastures and ponds new!
The frogs will be leaving Stockport on Monday 30th September so this weekend will be the last chance for visitors to the town centre to complete the trail.
Thousands have already completed the trail increasing the number of people in Stockport by over 30% between April and September.
Sponsored by local businesses, the frogs were the brainchild of Totally Stockport, the team from Stockport’s Business Improvement District.
18 of the original frogs will be sold at a live auction on 17th October, 6pm – 9pm before hopping off to new homes.
The auction, conducted by Simon Charles Auctioneers, will take place at LSH Auto’s new Mercedes showroom in Stockport with proceeds in aid of Stepping Hill Hospital’s Tree House children’s ward.
Totally Stockport’s manager Paul Taylor said:
“The frog art trail has been a huge success for Stockport, better than we ever envisaged. It’s been fantastic to see so many families – mums, dads, children, teenagers, grandparents, people of all ages – having a fun day out following the frog art trail. We’ve had thousands of entries into our competition to win a miniature golden frog and we will be announcing the winner very soon.
“It’s going to be sad to see the frogs leave but we have exciting plans for the future!”
