Stockport Family, Stockport Council’s integrated service for children, young people and families, has received national recognition after winning a silver award at the prestigious Social Worker of the Year Awards.
The award recognises organisations who can demonstrate excellent practice as an employer in motivating, leading and championing their social work employees.
The judges commended Stockport Family for being an excellent example of an employer who has a sophisticated model for providing integrated approaches, ensuring they support and develop a workforce to achieve the best for the families with whom they work.
They also praised the service for ensuring staff feeling valued and listened to by senior managers who are engaged and involved with a shared commitment to learning and leading by example.
James Rook, Chief Executive of the award’s headline sponsor Sanctuary Social Care, said:
“Stockport Family is an excellent example of an employer who has an integrated model to ensure that social workers feel valued and achieve the best for the children and families with whom they support. They should be very proud of their achievements.”
Councillor Colin Foster, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services, said:
“We are delighted that Stockport Family have won this award at the Social Worker of the Year Awards and received the recognition they richly deserve. Winning this award is a testament to the work our professional social work teams do every day working with our local children, young people and families here in Stockport.”
