Stockport based Starkey Hearing Technologies is opening its doors to anyone affected by Tinnitus or who want to find out more about this in Tinnitus Awareness week.
If you or those close to you are amongst the one in ten adults living with tinnitus, relief is at hand at Starkey Hearing Technologies’ special Tinnitus Awareness Week event on Tuesday 7th February.
In Stockport alone there are almost 23,000 people living with the condition – widely described as ‘ringing in your ears’ as well as buzzing, whooshing or humming.
Then take into account the 30% of the adult population who will experience tinnitus at some point in their lifetime – that’s a staggering 70,000 people living within the Stockport Borough – and the condition is a widespread concern.
The awareness and support event being held by Starkey – the leading global hearing company – aims to provide those affected with advice and information on managing the condition most effectively.
Starkey experts will be on hand to carry out a hearing evaluation and otoscopy – enabling visitors to take a look inside their ear using a small camera. They will also share advice on how best to protect against the condition.
Starkey’s Suzie Bryant says: “Because tinnitus affects each person differently, our event is particularly relevant and useful as we will individually test and discuss each condition – including how it sounds, how annoying it is or how debilitating it can be.”
For anyone interested in learning more drop in to the Starkey Tinnitus Awareness Day, which will take place between from 10am-2pm, on Tuesday 7th February.
Sue Falkingham, Audiologist at Starkey Hearing Technologies, adds: “There is a frequent misconception that tinnitus cannot be helped. Whilst it’s true there are no cures, there are a number of solutions that allow sufferers to take control of and manage their tinnitus to provide relief from this frustrating condition.”
