Stockport Council is urging people to get involved and support a new Change4Life campaign, encouraging a healthier start to 2014. The clear message from the Council is part of its ‘Get Involved in a Healthier Stockport’ initiative launched this January.
The Change4Life ‘Smart Swaps’ campaign aims
to help families cut sugar and saturated fat from
their everyday snacks, drinks and meals.
Families in Stockport are being urged to sign up
and make one easy change – like swapping
sugary drinks to sugar free or diet drinks, milk or
water. By doing this, an average family could save
up to three quarters of a bag of sugar over four
weeks.
Councillor John Pantall, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing, said:
“I would encourage Stockport families to take part in ‘Smart Swaps’ which will help people start the New Year with a much healthier diet. Making small but positive changes to your diet like reducing sugar intake can bring long lasting health benefits.”
People who sign up to the ‘Smart Swaps’ campaign will receive a free Smart Swapper pack full of healthier swap and meal ideas, money off vouchers and fridge magnets as well as supportive emails and texts throughout the month.
A free Smart Recipes app will also be available with tasty, quick and healthier meal ideas, which can be downloaded from iTunes and GooglePlay.
