Free lateral flow tests are now available from Stockport pharmacies under a new service called Pharmacy Collect.
The service means people without symptoms of COVID-19, can now conduct regular testing themselves from home without needing to attend a test centre.
Visit your local pharmacy to collect your free box of seven rapid tests. Follow the instructions to take your sample and get your results in 30 minutes. The lateral flow test uses a device similar to a pregnancy test and does not need to be sent to a lab. If you test positive, you and anyone you live with will need to self-isolate.
Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group said:
Pharmacy Collect means it’s so much easier for people to do regular testing at home. About one in three people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others.
“Getting tested regularly is the only way to know if you have the virus. If people test positive and self-isolate, it helps reduce the infection rate and stops the virus spreading.”
You can find which pharmacies are signed up to Pharmacy Collect via the Test and Trace website.
Lateral flow tests can also be ordered online for home delivery for those unable to get to a pharmacy.
