This weekend Stockport is commemorating the beginning of World War 1 with a parade through the town on Sunday 3rd August:
A number of roads in Stockport will be closed to traffic for the parade to commemorate the beginning of World War 1. A rolling closure will be in place between 2.30pm and 3.00pm and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

- St Petersgate for the full length; including crossing over St Peter’s Square
- Market Place for the full length
- Churchgate from Market Place to Harvey Street
