As people across the region, and indeed the UK, come to terms with the terrible atrocity that took place at Manchester arena yesterday evening, the leader of Stockport Council offers his deep condolences.
Alex Ganotis, leader of Stockport Council:
“I want to offer my deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragic events that took place at the Manchester Arena overnight. I like many others across our community – and indeed the world – are still coming to terms with this awful news.
“Stockport will work closely with those agencies leading on the investigations to ensure that whatever support and assistance is required will be made available, as well as providing support to those who have been affected.
“This was an evil and cowardly attack on innocent people, regardless of age, race or religion. I cannot begin to comprehend the senseless loss of lives, and the suffering and pain which so many families in Greater Manchester and beyond will now endure.
“This heinous act was intended to divide us. But we must not let terror win. We have already seen the best in the people of our area, through the selfless acts of those in the immediate aftermath of the events and which continues. Stockport will stand firm with the rest of Greater Manchester to ensure that whilst we remain vigilant, we show the resilience and community solidarity of which we are proud.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the unrelenting work of the emergency services since this horrific incident took place – they have shown incredible professionalism in extremely challenging circumstances.”
On behalf of Marketing Stockpot, ourselves and our members, Richard and I would like to extend our own condolences to those affected by the attack in Manchester, to those families mourning lost ones and to all those tragically injured.
“Emergency numbers have also been set up for those with who are concerned for loved ones who may not have returned home – these are 0161 856 9400 or 0161 856 9900.”
