Stockport Council is looking to appoint a specialist market operator who will use its skills, expertise and experience to manage Stockport Market and help it grow over for the next five years.
Reconfirming the Council’s commitment to seeing the Market grow and succeed within the towns historic Market Place and Covered Market Hall, operators who can support the existing traders whilst transforming the market into a diverse, thriving shopping and leisure destination for visitors are invited to tender for the opportunity.
The appointment, which is anticipated to be finalised in Autumn 2018, is taking place at the same time as £7 million is being invested into the area by the Council and is seeking to inject a new vibrancy into Stockport Market and the surrounding area, developing the market’s offer even further and ensuring it has a sustainable future.
This is an exciting time for Stockport Market Place.
Restaurants in the area are thriving with more openings planned soon; events are proving popular and investment by businesses into the area is ever growing.
Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council said: “Our vision is for Stockport Market Place to be a vibrant and popular place for people to visit every day of the week. As well as restaurant openings and regular events, Stockport Market has a vital role to play in achieving this vision, but we need to make sure it continues to grow and develop for the future. For this reason we want to find specialist market operators who can use their expertise to work with the businesses in the market and help make it successful for the future.”
