The Stockport Local Fund, set up by Stockport Council to support local communities, has attracted nearly 200 applicants in the first round of funding.
Stockport Council would like to thank everyone who applied to Stockport Local Fund, attended the launch event and workshops and signed up for regular updates about the fund. Both the number of attendees at the events and the number of applications received exceeded expectations.
Councillor Elise Wilson, Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance at Stockport Council said:
“We’ve received almost 200 applications and it’s encouraging to see the energy and enthusiasm being shown by people in Stockport wanting to help their neighbours. So many wonderful ideas have been proposed by local people to make our neighbourhoods even better places to live in.”
“We are delighted to have the chance to invest in some wonderful projects that help friends and neighbours join together and make a difference in our communities and we look forward to seeing the successful ideas become a reality.”
The council will contact applicants to let them know the outcome of their application and what the next steps are within six weeks.
Although the first application window for Stockport Local Fund has now closed, the good news is there will be another opportunity to apply later in the year. Sign up for email updates on our web-pages so you don’t miss future application dates.
‘Stockport Local’ is Stockport Council’s new way of working with communities. It’s about providing ways for neighbours to work together, care for each other and build stronger, thriving communities. This new Stockport Local Fund is the latest step to support our communities and follows the launch last year of the Stockport Local online directory of community groups and services.
