Stockport Homes’ employment team has been busy during the Covid-19 pandemic, providing people in Stockport with advice and guidance on getting back into work.
The service has quickly adapted to the current situation and Stockport Homes’ employment team are now offering extensive online support, including weekly job searching session on Zoom held every Thursday. The team also have video guides covering topics from ‘Online Job Interview’ tips to ‘Transferable Skills’ and can offer one-to-one CV help.
One of the customers, whom the team had worked with a few years ago, contacted the team again because she had lost her job due to Covid-19, said:
I have received indispensable advice, training and skills, and have acquired long-term work placement with the guidance from this amazing team. They’ve helped me with everything, from enrolling on courses to interview practice to helping me improve my CV. Without this advice I wouldn’t have pushed myself to become the confident, skilled professional I am today.”
Jenny Osbourne, Chair of Stockport Homes Board said:
It’s fantastic to see how our different services are adapting to the current situation. The employment team’s service is not only available for SHG’s tenants, but anyone in the Stockport area who might have lost their job and are looking to get advice and tips on getting back into employment.”
Stockport Homes’ employment team is also supporting BBC Radio Manchester’s £10 Million Job Hunt. Amanda Ward, Employment Support Manager at Stockport Homes, gave two applicants some valuable CV advice on their job hunt.
