Stockport disability charity, Supportability, has launched an appeal to recover lost fundraising opportunities brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since lockdown restrictions were put in place, the charity has had to change how they deliver services to disabled people in Stockport, and cancel planned fundraising events for this financial year. In total, the charity stands to lose out around £100,000 of income from donations for 2020/21.
Supportability were set to be charity partner for the Stockport Beer and Cider Festival in May, the last of a three year partnership with CAMRA. The largest fundraising event in the charity’s calendar, the annual golf day, set to be in its 27th year, makes substantial funds to support the work of the charity, was also forced to cancel.
In addition to large events, individuals raising money for the Stockport disability charity have also been affected, due to the cancellation of mass-participation events including the Great Manchester Run, Wilmslow Half-Marathon and the Wizard 5 run, of which Supportability was the main beneficiary.
All the money Supportability make through their fundraising activities goes straight back in to running their services, supporting children and adults with complex physical and/or learning disabilities across Stockport and the surrounding areas.
To help the charity get back on track they’ve launched their #SupportabilityAppeal campaign.
Supportability is asking you to donate whatever you can to the charity to enable them to continue to offer and provide their services to people in the local area. Donations can be made via their website.
