Stockport law firm SAS Daniels LLP has advised the Natalie Woods School of Theatre & Dance on a deal which will allow the Heaton Mersey-based School to expand.
The deal sees Anna Berto, a teacher at the School, take a fifty per cent ownership in the business, alongside founder Natalie Woods. Founded in 1999, the School has had a number of temporary homes, including church halls, which limited the hours it could operate and the number of students it could take on.

By taking on a partner, the School is now in a position to commit to a long term lease on new facilities, providing students with a state-of-the-art dance studio and allowing Natalie and Anna to introduce new classes and extended teaching hours.
Jean Walker, SME Business Services Partner at SAS Daniels, advised Natalie on the deal. She said
“In the current climate, access to funding for small businesses is difficult, making expansion tricky and potentially risky. By entering into this deal, the School is now in a position to minimise risk and increase expansion, offering a wider range of classes to children and adults in the Heatons.”
Natalie Woods said
“Having Anna come on board as an equal owner of the business means we can expand our range of services and continue to deliver an exceptionally high standard to our pupils. Anna is a fantastic teacher and I am delighted to have her on board as a partner in the business.”
As well as new classes for pupils up to the age of 21, the School will also be offering classes for adults in disciplines such as Bollywood and Burlesque, parent and toddler dancing classes and mother and toddler stay and play sessions. It also offers a range of exhibitions and recitals.
The School recently performed at the Palace Theatre, Manchester on 4th May 2013. The show, Stars For Tonight, is the School’s annual showcase in Manchester and is in aid of Francis House Children’s Hospice.
The School is based at Winsor House, Battersea Road, Heaton Mersey, Stockport SK4 3EA.
