Preparations are underway at Stockport County for the 2022/23 season following the club’s promotion to League Two, with a string of new signings and plans to expand parking at their grounds.
With the club’s promotion at the end of League Two set to bring bigger crowds to Edgeley Park, Stockport County Football Club have confirmed plans to create a temporary car park and reduce pressure on local parking Edgeley next season.
The outline plans intend to demolish a building owned by the Club to the east of the ground (formally The Bungalow Club) and create a temporary surface level car park for staff and the increased media expected to attend on match days, creating 140 additional spaces and widening access to the site.
The proposal represents the first step in the Club’s five-year growth strategy to make the Club more sustainable, bringing much needed renovations and modifications to Edgeley Park.
Non-Executive Chairman Ken Knott said:
“Part of our five-year growth strategy, the plans have been submitted to help to ease pressures felt by the Club and the local community on match days. It’s an incredibly exciting time at the Club as we head towards our first League Two match at the end of July, and this is one of the necessary improvements to ease that transition into the English Football League.”
Stockport County has also made four new signings during June ahead of the 2022/23 season, while existing players, Myles Hippolyte and Ryan Croasdale, have both extended their stays with the Hatters until 2024.
Striker Kyle Wootton joins County on a free transfer from Notts County on a three-year deal; attacking midfielder Connor Lemonheigh Evans joins the side on a free transfer from Torquay United; former York City midfielder Akil Wright has signed with County on a two-year deal; and centre back Joe Lewis, also from Torquay United, has also been signed on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
