A record number of young people in the borough have engaged with Stockport County Community Trust this summer through its Summer Holiday Programme.
A total of 2,496 young people have participated in the trust’s programmes this summer, across its HAF Programme, Teen HAF, County in the Park and Kellogg’s Football Camps.
The HAF Programme engaged 1,315 young people, providing free hot meals as well as 160 hours of delivery. Activities included visits to Reddish Vale Park, Inflata Nation and The Light Cinema, as well as collaborations with Pennine Care, Venture Out and Fresh Skills. The Teen HAF scheme, aimed at those aged 13 to 16 reached a further 60 young people across 10 sessions.
Several Stockport County players also joined HAF sessions throughout the summer, including goalkeeper Andrew Wogan at the final Teen HAF event, giving participants a memorable experience.
County in the Park engaged 147 participants with 40 hours of free sessions, while the Kellogg’s Football Camps provided 480 free places to 974 participants, including four girls-only camps.
Head of Inclusion and Participation, Daniel Landstrom, said:
“Our summer holiday programme has been a tremendous success, with more children and young people than ever before engaging in activities across Stockport. Through initiatives such as Kellogg’s Football Camps, the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme and County in the Park, we are committed to reducing barriers to participation by providing free, accessible, place-based opportunities for local families.
“We are also incredibly grateful for the support of the club, whose complimentary match tickets and first-team player appearances have helped create memorable experiences for participants and inspire the next generation of Stockport County supporters.”
