Stockport County Football Club has confirmed that Robert Elstone will step down from his advisory role as Non-Executive Chair later this month.
Robert Elstone (pictured) joined the club in September 2021 and in his short time at County has been instrumental in growing the club’s commercial interests and developing its football infrastructure as it strives to progress out of the National League. He has stated he will be stepping down from his role as Non-Executive Chair due to significant growth in other work commitments.
Mark Stott, Stockport County Football Club owner said:
“We’re incredibly thankful for everything Robert has achieved with the Club in a short space of time. His knowledge and passion for the industry has helped the Club in a multitude of ways, especially in our commercial operations and we wish him the very best for his growing future endeavours.”
Director Ken Knott, who has played an integral role in developing the Club’s long-term plans surrounding infrastructure, including securing the long-term lease of Edgeley Park, will become the Club’s Non-Executive Chair. Stott added:
“Ken will continue to play a pivotal role in the development of the Club in his position of Non-Executive Chair as we build upon our long-term strategy, further engaging the community of Stockport, managing the redevelopment of Edgeley Park to create a better fan experience and developing the Club’s elite training facilities.”
