Stockport Council and its employees celebrated #OURDAY last week as up to 45,000 people learnt about some of the different services Stockport Council provides as part of the yearly tweetathon.
From contact centre queries to Stockport Register office facts, and gifts for care leavers to town centre transformation plans, over 40 tweets passed through the Stockport Council Twitter account.
As part of its first year of taking part in the national Local Government Association event, Stockport Council posted videos, photos and other information to promote the different services on offer to residents.
Councillor Alex Ganotis, Leader of the Council, said: “Thank you to everyone who got involved on Tuesday and supported the Council. It’s great to recognise all the different services we have and how hard the staff who provide those services work.
“Throughout the day we reached thousands of people which is a tremendous effort. We really are overwhelmed with how many people got involved from and inside and outside of the Council.
“Despite only giving our followers on Twitter a flavour of the services we offer, it was great to share some of the current key initiatives we’re currently undertaking such as Stockport Exchange and Redrock, and our crucial day-to-day services such as Stockport Family and our highways team.”
