Congratulations are in order for a Stockport Council apprentice who won two prestigious awards from local apprenticeship training provider Damar Training.
Georgia Buckley, who started her course based at the Council in May 2017, has won Apprentice of the Year and Higher Apprentice of the Year for her excellent work based learning at Stockport Council during the past year. She has contributed to a wide variety of work areas supporting the regeneration of the town centre.
Now in their 13th year, Damar Training’s annual apprenticeship awards have a long history in recognising the inspirational stories of apprentices across the country.
Stockport-based Damar is one of the country’s leading providers of apprenticeships and, over the past year, has worked with over 2,000 apprentices at more than 500 employers nationwide.
Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said:
This is fantastic news and congratulations to Georgia on a much deserved award. Georgia has been an outstanding addition to the Council’s Growth team, showing great enthusiasm to learn new skills and supporting a number of important projects over the past year.”
Jonathan Bourne, Damar’s Managing Director, added:
This is a super achievement. The judges were very impressed both by the positive impact that Georgia has made at work and her own personal development. Stockport Council have shown a real commitment to higher apprenticeships in recent years and this success is further evidence of this”.
