Following a recent networking event by Stockport College, apprenticeships were very much top of the agenda with some excellent schemes in place and lots of opportunities for 2013. The event started with an introduction by the new college principle, Stephen Carlisle plus Stockport Council Chief Exec, Eamonn Boylann.
The college has been working hard with a wide range of Stockport businesses and also outside of the borough including Cartwrights, a privately owned family run commercial vehicle bodybuilder and trailer manufacturer based in Altrincham, Cheshire. Very focused on apprenticeships / training and please to be involved with Stockport College.
Summary of current schemes :-
Over 500 Apprentices placed in a range of sector areas
– Exciting partnership formed with The Cartwright Group which has seen the recruitment of 40 Engineering Apprentices from Stockport College
– Continued success expected with the Manchester Airport Academy particularly with the development of Airport City.
– New Apprenticeship Programmes will continue to grow including Sports and IT.
– Successful year for the Apprenticeship Grant with over 65 employers participating and receiving funding of £1,500 for recruiting an Apprentice.
