During the month of October Wilkinson Furniture will be relocating to new 84,000 sq ft premises in Cheadle, Cheshire. This large new warehouse, coupled with their ¼ Million sq ft Ireland based warehouse, will give the business the facilities it needs to become the largest UK furniture wholesaler.
One highly motivating benefit of the new facility is that it will give Wilkinson Furniture the ability to provide vastly improved customer service and a fantastic delivery service.
They will soon be opening a large showroom within the warehouse where customers will be able to view a full range of dining, bedroom, upholstery and occasional furniture, providing the ideal venue for retailers to source a wide range of products from one location. With upholstery sales now growing rapidly they plan to continue to build on their current offering which has been received favourably by customers.
Sales were 85% up in September on the same month last year. This rapid growth is largely due to the launch of many new ranges which have proved a huge success. Our strong contemporary offering will continue to be built upon and there will be a wide selection of products on show at the forthcoming NEC show. Our new 140 page brochure contains many excellent collections and this will continue to grow in the coming months.
Centurion Properties, which is managing the site for landlord Scottish Widows, has agreed a five-year lease with Wilkinsons at a stepped rent by year 3.
More than 120,000 sq ft of vacant space has been let to six new occupiers this year, while three others have renewed their leases.
Steve Johnson of retained letting agents, B8
Real Estate, said:
“Acting on our advice the Landlords took a
proactive view by undertaking good quality
refurbishments to all the vacant units which
has undoubtedly helped us secure a large
number of tenants in such a short space of
time.
“In addition we were able to offer flexibility
towards Wilkinson Furniture’s occupational
requirements which allowed us to exchange
contracts within 14 days of instructing
lawyers.”
Michael Jones at Centurion Properties’ Manchester office said:
“The estate has benefited from our direct asset management and refurbishment approach where we have re-positioned the estate in the South Manchester market, attracting new tenants such as Honeywell and Inchcape VW, as well as retaining existing tenants such as Thales. We have one further letting with solicitors which will take us up to 100% occupancy.”
