Stockport Council has organised several events to celebrate Adult Learners’ Week 2013 which runs from Saturday 18th May to Friday 24th May.
The Council’s Continuing Education Service, which provides lifelong learning courses for thousands of people across the borough, has organised events, activities and workshops throughout the week.
The main event takes place at Offerton Community Centre on Monday 20th May (all day) where there will be a wide range of informal activities for all ages focusing on ‘Families Learning Together’.
It includes drop-in sessions for people wishing to learn new skills in, for example, computing, making a slide show, cake decorating, and card making. People can ‘shape up with numbers’ and have a go at English and Maths, and meet a Tudor time traveller and have a go at a Tudor Antiques Road Show! All the new skills can be used at home.
There are displays and information, and people can find out more about courses offered in Stockport, how to learn new skills and improve their job prospects, by having one-to-one chats with staff on the day.
And from 3.30-5.30pm after-school activities for all the family include healthy eating, giant board games, and messy play!
Why not drop in, have a cup of tea and find out more about learning for Life?
