Stockport based C&C Insurance Brokers were in the company of sporting legends at an event held by Sale Sharks Community Trust hosted by the BBC’s Rachel Burden.
C&C, a sponsor and dedicated supporter of Sale Sharks, were among guests who dug deep and raised £21,000 for HITZ, the educational programme that provides opportunities for young people throughout Greater Manchester.
Malcolm Cooke, managing director of C&C Insurance Brokers explained:
“HITZ is a unique educational programme developed by Premiership Rugby for young people who have left school without going on to employment or further education. The programme has an 82% success rate in achieving the ultimate goal of finding meaningful employment for the youngsters. It was great to hear two beneficiaries of the scheme talk about their experiences – one who now works in the Civil Service and another who works in design.
“We are delighted to be able to support HITZ and help to sustain its future and at the same time rub shoulders with some of our own sporting legends.”
Sale Sharks runs one of the largest programmes in the country with six sites across the North West helping over 350 young people each year access qualifications and employment opportunities.’
The impressive line up supporting the charity event included, England and Liverpool football legend John Barnes MBE, Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE, Sale Sharks’ all time try scorer and England legend Mark Cueto MBE and Rugby League stalwart Paul Sculthorpe MBE .
The event was successful at bringing attention to the work of the programme and added much needed funds to continue to develop it. The money raised on the night will go towards a new minibus.
C&C Insurance Broker’s support in the auction saw them bring home 2 successful lots – a signed Barbarians rugby shirt and former Sale Sharks and England player Jason Robinson’s signed England shirt and his boots.
