The sixth annual Stockport Business Awards, organised by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, takes place at a sold-out Stockport Town Hall tomorrow.
400 of Stockport’s finest will turn out to celebrate the achievements of the shortlisted companies, and find out who will be crowned winners. The event is hosted by Jenny Powell, and charity partner NSPCC will benefit from all funds raised.
Organisers are delighted to welcome new sponsors CDL into the mix this year. CDL are sponsoring the Excellence in CSR category.
CDL’s HR Director Frank Robinson comments;
“The Excellence in CSR Award is one that is very close to our heart, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring it this year. We’ve seen for ourselves the benefits of an active community programme in terms of creating opportunities for local people and promoting a strong culture of engagement within companies. Our congratulations go to everyone who’s been shortlisted and we hope their efforts will serve to inspire other companies to really make a difference in their communities.”
The shortlisted companies in the category are SAS Daniels, Stockport Homes and Together.
SAS Daniels have many CSR initiatives which provide a forum for employees to contribute to improving the lives of others, and to the success and development of the community. They ensure that CSR is always on the agenda in all strategic business decision making processes. Not only do they do all of this, but they are also proud to support their staff in whatever charitable work they personally engage in.
Stockport Homes are driven by a passion to deliver services that go far beyond being a traditional landlord. Their CSR work supports the core business by empowering customers and staff to reach their potential and supports sustainable communities. Their ‘One Team, Transforming Lives’ approach is supported by their vision, mission and aims – and as an organisation they focus on continuous improvement, seeking new opportunities and recognising and rewarding employees.
In 2016 Together launched a dedicated CSR initiative “Let’s Make it Count” which spans charity, community and the environment. Within the ‘Let’s Make it Count’ initiative, there are six charity pillars; Let’s get Giving, Let’s get Going, Let’s get Green, Let’s get Caring, Let’s get Sharing and Let’s get Creative. Their ‘Let’s get Giving’ scheme raised more than £125k throughout 2016 and the funds were committed to a range of Greater Manchester and Stockport charities.
