Hallidays are holding their fourth Stockport Business Angels event bringing together entrepreneurs to pitch their products and services to an audience of potential investors.
Taking place on Thursday 15th November, the ‘Dragon’s Den’ style Stockport Business Angels event presents the opportunity for entrepreneurs to secure the investment they need to enable their businesses to grow rapidly.
Business Angels can invest between £20,000 and £500,000 in the hope of receiving high returns for investing at an early stage in a growing business.
With lively pitches and Stockport Business Angels with a real appetite for investment, deals start being carved out over the business lunch.
Paul Whitney, Hallidays Director explains how successful the events are:
“Between 40-60% of pitchers at our previous events have received offers of investment. This is a remarkable achievement considering the average for such an event is around 15%!
“We’ve got high hopes that our fourth event will enable more entrepreneurs to secure the investment they need to support growing businesses with their expertise and finance.”
Last year’s event, saw 2 of the 5 pitchers receiving offers of around £160,000 in total.
Nick Richardson, CEO of The Insights People, a market research and insights agency said:
“Stockport Business Angels, Access to Finance and The Business Growth Hub were extremely supportive in helping secure our first round of investment. We were impressed with Hallidays who helped scale our business and pursue a second round of investment to fund our global expansion.”
Joe Taylor, Co-Founder of ‘Real Handful’ secured £100,000 in 2016 to rapidly expand his business and received expert guidance from his Stockport Business Angel to improve the manufacturing processes of their healthy snacks business. Real Handful went on to be awarded ‘MEN Young Business of the Year Award in 2017’ and with their investment are continuing to drive their business forward.
Joe said:
“The Business Angels format really encouraged pitchers and angels alike to engage with each other. We met investors that are passionate and interested in what we are doing and have fulfilled 80% of our funding requirement. We can now bring our plan to life, growing our business and team. It was a great opportunity!”
The Stockport Business Angels are also a fantastic opportunity for the investors to yield high returns for investing in the early stages of a growing business.
Phil Eagle, Hallidays Director emphasises the tax benefits for investors:
“As well as being a rewarding opportunity to support a young business to rapidly grow, there can also be significant tax benefits in being an investor if the investment qualifies for Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) or Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS). Investors should always carefully consider the merits and risks of any investment opportunity and seek expert advice”.
