Local Building Society The Vernon, has paid a visit to the Stroke Association community garden, benefactors of funding from their Jubilee Fund.
The Stroke Association were one of the 16 organisations to receive funding from Vernon Building Society’s Jubilee Fund, which donated over £10,000 to local charity and community groups last year. The Stroke Association received over £500 to put towards their gardening group based at Reddish Vale Country Park.
When Vernon staff visited the gardening group in April, volunteers were busy finishing off the raised beds and planting seeds for summer. The raised beds allow access for wheelchair users and those with mobility problems.
Ian Keeling, Head of Sales and Marketing said:
“It was really inspiring to see the gardening group working together to create a place that others can enjoy, particularly when you realise that those in the group have suffered from a stroke previously and are giving their time voluntarily.”
Vernon Building Society’s Jubilee Fund will launch in May and is inviting applications from local charity and community groups.
