Team mates from a Stockport Accountants will don their running shoes to take part in the Manchester 10K to raise funds for a Stockport charity.
Based in the town centre, The Wellspring is a charity helping homeless and disadvantaged individuals and families from Stockport and surrounding areas and is an important part of the local community.
For the last six years, the Bennett Verby team have supported The Wellspring through fundraising events and activities.
Vincent Simmons, a Director at Bennett Verby said,
“It is really satisfying when you can give something back to the community and in this case, support one of our local charities. The Manchester Run is such an exciting event; we are all really looking forward to taking part and trying to raise as much money as we possibly can for The Wellspring.”
The Wellspring provides referrals into housing and have supported over 1500 rough sleepers off the streets and into accommodation.
They actively engage with people who are at risk of becoming homeless therefore preventing homelessness from happening.
The Wellspring provides educational courses, Computer courses, art classes, other activities such as football, walking groups and gardening courses.
Health services are available, including a drop in service from a GP. Referrals to other specialist services, such as drug and alcohol teams are made frequently. Free food and drink is available 365 days a year. The Wellspring provides people rough sleeping with showers and clean clothing, as well as blankets and sleeping bags. 1-1 support planning sessions take place. All Wellspring staff are qualified learning advisors and constantly signpost people into education.
