Caroline Simpson, Corporate Director for Place at Stockport Council, said:
The Start Smart scheme offers useful support to anyone considering self-employment, as well as those looking for a new direction in their existing small business, so I’d encourage Stockport residents to take up this opportunity.
“Stockport is an entrepreneurial borough, with 85% of businesses employing less than 10 people and historically high business start-up and survival rates. Small businesses are highly important to the local economy and through this support we hope to encourage those that wish to start up on their own.”
Robin Burman, Chair of the Board at Stockport Homes, said:
We are proud to be part of this initiative which will make such a difference, not only to our customers and local residents but by helping businesses to be part of Stockport’s exciting growth. Self-employment can be a great way into work and also can help achieve a work life balance that’s right for you.”
