Starkey Hearing Technologies based in Hazel Grove have extended their commitment to being a greener company by removing all plastic consumables from their onsite canteen.
The company pledges to reduce plastic usage by 90%.
Plastic cutlery, plates and cups have been removed in favour of reusable and rapid bio degradable versions in a bid to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic and throw away waste. Water bottles and hot mugs have been distributed to all staff to remove the need to use the plastic cups for drinks.
Neil Pottinger, Sales and Marketing Director adds:
“We all have a responsibility to ensure our commercial actions do not impact on the environment. As a global technology company, Starkey Hearing Technologies are committed to leading the way in being a responsible and sustainable organisation.
“This is just one of many actions we will take over the coming months and years to reduce unnecessary waste. Starkey employees have welcomed the initiative. We know how small changes in behaviour can add up to make a big difference.”
Starkey Hearing Technologies are hoping that other companies will follow their example in tackling plastic waste to aid the environment.
