Two Stockport Sports Clubs are to benefit from a cash boost from Sport England, an award welcomed by Sir Andrew Stunell MP.
Andrew Stunell, MP for Hazel Grove has welcomed Sport England’s cash boost to Woodley Cricket Club and Mellor Lacrosse Club this year, which gives an overall boost of well over £150,000 to Stockport Sports Clubs since 2010.
Commenting, Andrew said –
“After a wonderful Olympic year it is great to see local sports clubs getting every encouragement to develop and grow. I hope many others will take a look to see if they can bid successfully. And there really now is every opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in a sport, and to build their fitness and health up.”
Most recently Mellor Lacrosse Club was awarded over £9,000 in 2012/13 to go towards protecting their playing fields and Woodley Cricket Club was awarded over £4,000 to go towards their club in the same year.
Since 2010 other local sports clubs have received grants from Sport England too, namely Manchester Canoe Club, Brabyns Tennis Club, Cherry Tree Partners and Hazel Grove Bowling & Tennis Club.
