Healthcare providers Simplyhealth have made a donation of £4,000 to St Ann’s Hospice as part of National Carers Week.
Half of the donation has been put towards the charity’s ‘Pay For A Day’ scheme, and covers the cost of one day’s care at the Neil Cliffe Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital and community services, including Hospice@Home.
The date chosen is Monday, June 9, the start of National Carers Week.
James Glover, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said:
“Hospice@Home provides an invaluable service to people being cared for in their own homes. We’ve donated £2,000 to the charity so it can extend its service out into the community for a day and £2,039 to pay for arts and crafts activities for Day Care patients.
“Caring is a full time job and carers and family members sometimes need valuable time off which is what the Hospice@Home day will provide.
“St Ann’s Hospice is local to our Manchester office and many of our staff have had personal links through friends and family members. Last year we took part in fundraising and networking events for St Ann’s Hospice and we’re pleased to be able to continue our support by helping them reach others in the local community.”
Jayne Bessant, Chief Executive of St Ann’s Hospice, said:
“We’re extremely grateful for this generous donation from Simplyhealth and their recognition of our work in the community which involves helping around 3,000 patients and their families each year in Greater Manchester.”
