The Vernon Building Society celebrated 25 years of partnership with Poynton Brass Band this year.
The next performance that the band are holding for the Vernon will be at Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport on Saturday 14th December from 9am-11am where they will be playing a variety of Christmas favourites to raise money for a local charity.
The band, who currently rehearse at Park Lane in
Poynton where the Society also has a branch,
was originally founded in the early 1800’s within
Poynton’s coal mining community.
In 1988 the Vernon signed an agreement with the
band to provide sponsorship and new uniforms,
an agreement which is still in place a quarter of a
century later.
This milestone was commemorated at the
Society’s Brass and Broadway Concert earlier in
the year where the band and audience were all
given a special 25 year anniversary badge.
Chief Executive of the Vernon, Mike Hanson, said:
“We’re very proud of our association with the band especially as we both have strong links to Poynton and the local community. After 25 years the band have continued to delight us and audiences with their fantastic performances.”
