After a serious spinal injury, clients can experience feelings of loneliness and isolation which is why CFG Law are working closely with SIA and sponsoring their Peer Support Officer, Andy Wharton, who has first-hand experience of living with a spinal cord injury. Andy can offer advice and support for newly injured people and their families and is keen to promote an active lifestyle, having coached wheelchair sports and competed for England at wheelchair rugby league.
Philip Coulthurst, Head of Serious Injury at CFG Law said,
“At CFG Law, our absolute focus is on putting the needs and wellbeing of our clients and their families at the heart of everything we do.
“When someone sustains a serious injury their life can be turned upside down and often they will feel isolated and alone; like they are the only one going through such a trauma. Speaking to a peer, who has suffered similar injuries and successfully rebuilt their life, can be a massive boost to their emotional and psychological health.
“We are thrilled that our connection with the Spinal Injury Association will potentially allow us to help even more people and their families after a serious spinal injury.”
The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is a national charity which is dedicated to helping the 40,000 people living with spinal cord injury to rebuild their lives. They carry out exceptional work for those with spinal injuries; advising, educating and campaigning to raise awareness.
