Stockport charity, Seashell Trust, is offering a taster session of virtual training in the Makaton Language Programme, incorporating signs, speech and symbols to aid in the development communication skills.
The session looks at what Makaton is, who uses it and provides an opportunity to learn around 30 signs and symbols from the Core Vocabulary.
The webinar session takes place on September 7th from 1.30-3pm, and costs £7 to attend to help cover the charity’s costs of hosting the training.
Makaton has transformed the lives of children and adults with a range of different communication difficulties. It’s designed to support spoken language – signs are used with speech, in spoken word order to help children and adults to communicate.
The taster session provides an introduction to Seashell Trust’s more in-depth Makaton training programme, which runs virtually in October, for parents, carers and professionals looking to make their workplaces more accessible for those with communication challenges.
Information on how to register for the session is available on the charity’s website.
