SAZ MEDIA has offered a summer of free media workshops for young people and the over 50’s to up-skill them in digital photography and filmmaking, supporting them to connect with their community.
Supported by The Goodness Collective, SAZ MEDIA are certainly living up to that mission this summer with fully funded workshops for Stockport’s young people and a newly established over 50’s group.
A key theme to this summer’s planning has been around a ‘connected communities’ programme with an established partnership with fellow social enterprise organisation The Goodness Collective.
With film and photography workshops planned all summer long and the opportunity to explore the borough through a lens, taking in our towns locations from Merseyway through to Brinnington; By bike, bus and on foot; Exploring our towns businesses, leisure assets, natural landscapes, residents and community groups. What better way to capture images that connect us!
A culmination of these creatively captured images and film footage will be on public display showcasing the summer long images captured including a variety of perspectives on a connected community, through the eyes of our local residents, both young and not so young.
Come view the explorative gallery on 22nd August 2019.

“Come along to the exhibition launch event on Thursday 22nd August 4.30pm till 8pm. We will be having a cross sector panel vote for images from 2 ages categories that capture a truly connected community and there will also be a people’s vote for you to get involved in. Refreshments will be available, a chance to chat to our creatives and other local supporters and the opportunity to vote for your own favourite image!
“We would love you to show your support for this very local enterprise, supporting our boroughs residents and showcasing their talents. Give yourself an hour to explore through the eyes of others what a ‘connected community’ looks like. Please also look out for our #ConnectedCommunities social media posts and give them some love.
“This Connected Communities themed exhibition will showcase what Stockport has to offer its residents, all the amazing places to visit and friendly people to meet. So far we have brought approx 50 people together to create this exhibition, through our workshops we have reduced social isolation and supported those in our community who are most vulnerable.”
