Stockport’s Vernon Building Society has won a national award for Best Savings Provider at the British Bank Awards.
The local mutual – with branches in Stockport, Reddish, Cheadle, Hazel Grove, Poynton and Marple – scooped the top prize at the highly respected British Bank Awards.
The awards are voted for by customers, not industry experts, so they are based on real-life experiences of using the savings and mortgage provider.
The building society has a diverse range of savings products, including accounts for children, aspiring homeowners saving for a deposit, and those who want to save tax-free with an ISA.
Marketing and Brand Manager, Alex Deakin, said:
As a small building society with big ambitions we’re thrilled to win this prestigious award for the second year in a row.
“Vernon has been serving the savers and borrowers of Stockport and beyond for 95 years. We care about creating products that meet your needs combined with fantastic service.”
Michael Fotis, founder of Smart Money People, added:
Whether our winner is a household name with millions of customers or a niche provider, they’ve all demonstrated exceptional levels of customer satisfaction. As we move into an uncertain few months, it’s a timely reminder of the commitment many financial firms have to delivering good customer outcomes.”
Vernon was also a finalist in the Best Mortgage Provider category at the awards, recognising its wide range of innovative products to help first-time buyers, older borrowers and landlords.
