North West law firm SAS Daniels LLP has hired a new associate to further its insolvency offering within the dispute resolution team. Paul Formby, formerly of DWF, has joined the firm with a brief to develop and grow the practice, working across commercial and private clients.
Paul spent ten years with his previous employer, where he qualified in 2004, having joined as a trainee solicitor. He specialises in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious insolvency work, acting for insolvency practitioners on a national basis. This involves investigating and realising assets as well advising on transactional matters.
His expertise includes overturning antecedent transactions, realising assets including property both in the UK and beyond and advising on landlord & tenant issues. In addition he provides an insolvent debt service for collection teams, removing the administrative burden of dealing with insolvent debts, registering those debts as appropriate and collecting dividends due.
Paul said “I’m delighted to be joining such an ambitious, dynamic company. I was inspired by the challenge of building a dedicated insolvency offering in what can be a demanding market, but I believe that my experience, coupled with SAS Daniels’ reputation, will be a successful combination for the practice.”
Chris MacCafferty, head of dispute resolution and a partner at SAS Daniels, said “We have on-going plans to grow the dispute resolution team in the coming twelve months, following our fantastic growth of 60 per cent last year. A dedicated insolvency offering is very much part of this, along with other recruits later in the year. I’m delighted to welcome Paul to the team and look forward to working with him to grow a first class insolvency service.”
