Helen Gowin, a A lawyer from SAS Daniels LLP, is putting her running shoes on for charity. On Sunday, 6 April Helen Gowin will be taking part in the Greater Manchester Marathon to raise funds for a little known charity called ‘Friends of the Orphanage of Hearts’.
The charity supports an orphanage in Burundi, East Africa – one of the poorest countries in the world – where the children wouldn’t survive without support and Helen is hoping to raise money to go towards their basic living needs.
Helen (pictured left) started running around 10 years ago when her sister challenged her to take part in a Race for Life event to raise money for Cancer Research following the death of their father from the disease. She never imagined at that time that she would get as far as a marathon, but the atmosphere at past races has kept her going and she loves the way in which these events bring people together.
Helen will also achieve a long standing personal running goal by taking part in this full marathon.
