Robinsons’ pub, The George and Dragon in Holmes Chapel is celebrating after a hat trick of hospitality honors scored at the 2015 Taste Cheshire Food & Drink Awards.
The George and Dragon, who were awarded a Bronze Award in the Family Friendly Venue of the Year, Silver in the Best Pub and a Gold Award in Use of Local Produce in a Menu, were amongst the top restaurants, pubs, bars and food outlets who attended the awards ceremony which was held at Chester Racecourse on the 8th April.
To find the winners, the public were encouraged to vote for their favourite establishment online across a number of categories. This year over 20,000 votes were cast.
Taste Cheshire General Manager, Hannah Lucy described the number of votes cast as “Simply phenomenal. In 2014 we had over 5,000 votes and this year that number exceeded 20,000 a 400% increase. The public have definitely voted and they have told us exactly who they want winning our awards. […] right now the Cheshire hospitality scene has never been better”.
Once votes were counted, mystery visits from industry experts were sent to the finalists to decide the best from each category.
Licensee Martin Barnes said, “We are absolutely thrilled to come away with three accolades. It is a testament to our hard working and committed team to achieve such success against the best that Cheshire has to offer. When we took over the pub, six years ago, we set out to make the George & Dragon “A village Pub with a Touch of Class”. To gain this recognition, especially through our customers and industry experts, is particularly rewarding and makes us strive even harder to achieve high levels of consistency and to have a pub of which we – and our customers – are proud.”
If you’re feeling peckish, there’s never been a better time to visit The George & Dragon – an award-winning, family run pub in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.
