Robinsons Brewery has been awarded Business of the Year at the finale of the Stockport Business Awards 2012. Sponsored by NatWest Commercial Banking, the award was judged on demonstrating all-round business excellence and impressive business achievements.
Competing with a range of businesses, Robinsons, based in Stockport since 1838, was named the winner due to its innovative new brew house and Visitor and Training Centre, underpinned with commitment to the high quality training of landlords and chef’s across the North West. The Stockport Business Awards were set up, to highlight and celebrate business excellence in a region which is visibly and rapidly building a reputation as one of the fastest growing commercial centres in the north of England. With easy access to all major markets via road, rail and air, coupled with a highly skilled workforce – 33.8% qualified to degree level (6.8% up against North West average) – Stockport is an exciting and prosperous place to work. Unsurprising, then, that recent BBC research suggests a 10.8% rise in business start-ups in the town over the past two years alone, with 2,335 new firms being established.
Fast approaching their 175th anniversary, the development of Robinsons to become the leading operator in the north-west, reinforces the opportunities available to Stockport organisations. 2012 has been a ‘regeneration game’ for this Cheshire Family Brewer…and not just for their brand new brew house! Robinsons have been dedicated to evolving the business, brands and pubs to ensure they’re fighting fit for the 21st century. The highly contested award was collected by joint Managing Directors Oliver and William Robinson, who were thrilled with the win: “We were delighted to win the inaugural Stockport Business of the year award. We’ve been working very hard to become more energy efficient, communicate better with our customers, bolster our brands with a fresh new look, and boost our local economy with high quality training courses and a new Visitor Centre…and the fruits of our labour will pay dividends come 2013,” explains Oliver. William adds: “This award is testament to the dedication of each and every tenant, employee and family member here at Robinsons.”
