Robinsons Brewery and the licensee of the Crown Inn have given the 17th century inn an extensive refurbishment and investment of over £200k.
Set in the picturesque village of Lixwm, North Wales, the pub has reopened after Anthony jumped at the chance to transform the pub.
Licensee Anthony said:
“It’s been great since the refurbishment, customers old and new are loving the new look. The country feel is still very much present but has been updated to create more of a modern look. Trade has been boosted by many customers popping in to sample the new ales and tasty food dishes, and they are able to wine and dine in a more comfortable, welcoming environment.”
The pub, which boasts pleasant views of Clwydian Hills and Offas Dyke Path, has been a key part of the local community for many years. Once a little tired and in need of a refresh, The Crown Inn now radiates a timeless, modern-country style. Externally, The Crown has benefitted from a new signage scheme in line with Robinsons’ branding, along with a new outdoor drinking area. The building has also been repainted in render ash white, giving it a fresh new look for passers-by.
The pub’s cellar and kitchen have also been upgraded. The Crown’s menu now has a broad range of wholesome British pub classics alongside influences from across the globe, championing the use of local seasonal produce and ingredients. It includes Robinsons Unicorn battered cod, with chips and mushy peas, braised lamb shoulder and lasagne “al forno”, as well as delicious homemade burgers, grilled meats, and tempting desserts. The Crown will also fly the flag for a brand-new gin, wine and beer range.
Internally, the bar has been rebuilt with a new upper back fitting, internal walls have been removed, and solid oak flooring has been implemented throughout to allow improved customer flow and movement. Improved glazed windows provide greater natural light and enhanced atmosphere for customers to enjoy.
Trevor Strickley, Business Development Manager for Robinsons Brewery, said:
“Pubs like the Crown Inn are such a vital part of the community, they are a hub for people to meet and socialise and they play an important role in our lives. It is great that the Crown can continue to do this with a wonderful new look.”
Decorative ambient lighting and new fixed seating with floral wool plaids now adorn the local’s bar area and dining room. Customers can relax by the cosy log burner, featuring a newly reclaimed fire surround, and enjoy an evening tipple (or two).
The Crown has further benefitted from a full refurbishment of the toilets, including a new accessible toilet.
