Staff members from Stockport based Robinsons Brewery took part in the first ever ‘BBQ for Heroes and Pub Takeover’ and helped to raise over £650 for Help for Heroes.
The team, comprising of members from Robinsons’ Managed House Operations Team, served drinks and barbequed tasty treats throughout the evening at the Rising Sun in Tarporley with all proceeds from the BBQ and bar server’s tips going towards the final total, in aid of Help for Heroes who are celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year.
Ellis Wardle, Retail Operations Manager for the Rising Sun and a member of the fundraising team said:
“When the opportunity arose to run the pub for the evening and give the hard-working members of the Rising Sun a night off, all while raising funds for a great charity, we jumped at the opportunity.”
The event was a huge success with members of the Tarporley community flocking in droves to show their support and donate to the worthy cause. To ensure that all donations from the BBQ went to Help for Heroes, Robinsons’ suppliers M & J Seafood, Harlech Food Service and Michael McDonald all graciously provided meat and food for the evening on the house.
The evening also included a raffle with a certain ‘gin ne sais quoi’; giving customers the chance to win a ‘gincredible’ Gin hamper with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes with gins kindly donated by Martin Millers, Warner Edwards and Langely’s Old Tom.
Ellis continued:
“It was wonderful to see the entire community come out, show some support and forgive us when we made some rookie errors! Some of the Operations Team have worked in pubs in the past and some of them have never even pulled a pint so it gave everyone a new appreciation of the hard work and dedication for the team at the Rising Sun and all of Robinsons’ pubs across the North West, Cumbria and Wales.”
The donations from the evening, along with multiple fundraising events that Robinsons are hosting throughout 2018 and beyond, will go directly to Help for Heroes, a British charity that provides recovery and support for the Armed Forces community whose lives are affected by their service. The proceeds donated will help the thousands of Servicemen and women who live with complex wounds and injuries – both physical and mental – and are looking to regain their purpose in life.
Closing, Ellis said:
“Once again, we would like to thank the community of Tarporley and all the team who gave up their evening to take over the Rising Sun and raise funds for a very worthy cause.”
At the start of the 2018, Robinsons announced the creation of LIGHT BRIGADE, a unique golden English ale with a 4.1% ABV, the 5th beer collaboration with British rock legends IRON MAIDEN. 6p of each pint and 5p of each bottle sold will be donated directly to Help for Heroes.
