This weekend, 1st – 2nd September, the Alvanley Arms – Robinson Brewery’s 400-year-old pub situated in Cotebrook – will be hosting a family fun weekend, all in aid of charity.
Last year, the community pub raised over £15,100 for ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ – a charity which raises money to grant the wishes of children who are living with life threatening illnesses – to pay tribute to their late Chef, Aaron, who became diagnosed with terminal bowel and stomach cancer after 5 weeks of working at the pub.
Licensee of the Alvanley Arms, Harry Challinor, explained:
“We always like to do our bit for charity every year. As well as our upcoming events, we have a charity box on our bar for Cystic Fibrosis Trust and over the years we have raised thousands of pounds by having sportsman dinners and events likewise. This year, we thought we would try something new, so we are to host our charity fun weekend on the 1st and 2nd September. We live in a community full of generous people, and it’s been great to see everyone get involved over the years to raise some money for such worthy charities and to also have a fantastic time!”
The weekend will be one for all to enjoy and will include family-friendly activities such as an inflatable assault course, giant games such as Jenga and Connect 4, a bouncy castle, a delicious BBQ with scrumptious bites to eat and a Robinsons’ outside bar – a perfect weekend for everybody!
The team will be raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust; the only UK charity dedicated to fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis for everyone affected by the condition. This charity is particularly dear to the hearts of all the team at the pub, as licensee, Harry, has lost two brothers and a sister at a very young age through this deadly disease. The Alvanley Arms will also be donating some of the funds raised on the day to Tarporley Memorial Hospital.
