Stockport College’s Commercial team ran their first Construction Employer networking event at Robinsons Brewery new visitor centre on Thursday 18th April, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Its aim was to encourage employers within the construction industry to network and to promote Apprenticeships within the sector.

Mike Smith Joinery, Cheshire Business Services and Farina Group were the visitors at the event.
The College’s Assistant Principal to Construction & Allied Industries Ian Burns attended the event with the support of the Commercial & Employability team.
Guest Speaker Bill Lloyd from B4Box spoke with enthusiasm, about his experience of working with the College to recruit 8 new Apprentices to the business. With over 30 years’ experience, Mr Lloyd a construction professional has previously significantly grown many construction businesses. He also brings experience of guiding companies taking on private equity investment and negotiating a sale of a company.
He talked about his passion for Apprenticeships and training and his hopes of maintaining a long standing relationship with the College.
Katie Pinder, Head of Business Development said: “The event was a great success. Regular networking is one of the best ways to pick up more work and meet new trade contacts.
“We are running employer networks across all sectors and this was the first. We chose Construction because it is a sector we are trying to build given the economic climate we want to be in a position where we can support our employers with their training needs. I am looking forward to watching the network grow.”
