All businesses regardless of their size, sector and age are looking for opportunities to develop. In today’s increasingly connected world, international markets are closer than they ever have been and this can offer significant growth potential to companies here in Stockport.
Stockport Council and the The Royal Bank of Scotland are ensuring that companies are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully enter export markets and, as part of this commitment, they host the South Manchester International Trade Forum.
The programme of free business events is aimed at both companies who are new to international trade as well as those looking to grow their overseas business, providing valuable information about market opportunities as well as signposting them to the business support available.
Since its launch the network has seen many local companies successfully grow the international side of their business and enjoy the benefits that this brings.
Mike Hurleston, (left) Director of Corporate Banking at RBS commented:
“Since starting the International Trade Forum we have seen a number of companies who were unsure of how to tap into potential overseas markets successfully start trading internationally. They have testified that since making this move there has been no looking back, and they have seen their business grow significantly.
“I would encourage any company to think more about taking this step forward on their business journey. Attending the International Trade Forum gives local business owners the chance to learn more about the opportunities and support available as you seek to make this move.”
Paul Lawrence, Stockport Council’s Corporate Director said:
“Research shows that on average firms new to international trade experience a 34% increase in production during the year they start exporting. This offers great opportunities to Stockport companies, I would encourage local businesses to attend the International Trade Forum and find out how they can benefit. “
