A new scheme is being launched offering local businesses, committed to delivering excellent customer services, the chance to become approved by Stockport Council.
The Business Approval Register, which is supported by the Council’s Trading Standards Service, promotes those businesses which can demonstrate that they are reliable and trade fairly, helping protect local consumers from misleading sales practices and rogue traders.
The aim of the service is to provide consumers with a register of vetted and approved quality businesses that are trustworthy. Businesses must commit to a Customer Charter and Code of Practice which sets out the standards that they must comply with.
Businesses, in particular those in the home improvement, car retail and car repairs sectors, business professionals and other businesses in the service industry, can find out more about the scheme at an event in Stockport on Thursday 3rd July.
Let’s Talk Business will highlight how the Council’s Trading Standards Service is working to support good businesses in Stockport, plus how joining the Business Approval Register can help promote and build a positive reputation and support business growth.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Stockport Executive Member for Economic Development & Regeneration, said:
“We are delighted to be working with the Business Approval Register. Having a register of quality assured businesses that we can signpost consumers to will help us reduce the risk in Stockport of our residents becoming the victim of unscrupulous traders.
“Trading Standards already carry out a great deal of work combating rogue traders. The Business Approval Register will be a key weapon in the arsenal in safeguarding consumers while at the same time celebrating the many excellent businesses operating in the borough. It shows yet again you are with a safe pair of hands when doing business in Stockport.”
Pete Juniper the Managing Director of the Business Approval Register said:
“Many consumers are frustrated by being let down by unreliable businesses, are wary of being taken advantage of and do not always know who they can trust. The Business Approval Register takes away that fear and we promote business and independent customer feedback identifying those that can consistently deliver high standards of service and look after their customers. Working with Stockport Council Trading Standards Service endorses quality businesses and together we deliver that extra security and assurance for customers.”
