Presto Music School, the UK’s leading independent authority in modern music tuition, has selected Midshire® hosted desktop solution, Desktop Monster® in a bid to meet its expanding IT needs.
Founded in July 2004, Presto is a top music tuition franchise that caters to people of all ages across the UK. The school currently provides lessons to over 1,400 students weekly, in piano, guitar, drum, keyboard, and singing. The school now has over 30 employees that operate from its sites in Liverpool, Manchester, Runcorn, Warrington, and Wrexham.
Presto approached Midshire®, the parent company of Desktop Monster, initially enquiring about printers and computer hardware. After a successful consultation that resulted in Midshire providing six HP laptops, Midshire’s Technology Sales Manager identified the company as a the perfect candidate for Desktop Monster.
A cloud-hosted desktop solution, Desktop Monster is designed for organisations of all sizes by providing them with instant access to their business files, wherever they are, on any device. The technology is particularly ideal for multi-site organisations as it reduces the need to invest in expensive servers whilst providing a flexible collaborative platform.
Director of Presto Music Tim Morris comments on the benefits of Desktop Monster:
“As a small business we had not invested in any IT infrastructure and had several staff working in different locations on laptops and sharing information via Drop box or email.
“We had also experienced several issues with laptops/PCs crashing and the resultant loss of non-backed up work which was causing us regular headaches and unpredictable costs as were reliant on reactive external IT support.
“Their proactive approach has meant that we no longer have to worry about work being lost. Back-ups are regular and automatic, which has greatly improved our data security. It is now possible to access central records remotely from any PC or hand held device, without having to rely on individuals to share them.
“The initial transfer of our existing files was straight forward and didn’t take long, and the 24-hour helpline has always resolved issues very quickly and in simple terms, so our organisation can continue to run smoothly and effectively.”
The technology was developed in-house by Midshire in October 2014, and is now an award-winning product. Desktop Monster was named Best Technology Product at the Talk of Manchester Awards 2016, with Midshire also winning Best SME Support Company, and received a coveted spot on the Megabuyte Emerging Stars list for IT.
“A monthly fixed cost for each user allows us to budget for the price of this crucial element of our business and that’s really important. The service we have received from Desktop Monster and Midshire to date has been excellent.”
