Praise for its excellent BTEC teaching provision at Stockport College has been announced during an annual review.
This follows the outstanding Higher Education report received by the Quality Assurance Agency – the Quality Assurance body for Higher Education.
The College received a glowing report from the Pearson BTEC Quality Management Review during an annual inspection of all BTEC provisions Levels 1 to 5. Judgements during the review were made against a staggering 50 quality objectives, covering the quality of college infrastructure and the quality of learner experience. Stockport College received the highest grading in all areas with no actions or recommendations provided by the reviewer. BTEC subjects involved in the review included Business, Computing, Construction, Engineering, Health & Social Care and Science.
The report highlighted the close-knit links Stockport College has with local and national industries, stating that ‘the centre has developed excellent links with employers and practitioners providing a wide range of examples. This serves to enhance the learner experience with work experience, relevant visits and guest speakers’.
Amongst the positive reviews Stockport College was also singled out for praise for the high level of individualised support that students receive, as well as the exceptional information provided regarding curriculum choices and progression for learners. The report continues to state that ‘the centre ensures learners are well supported, fully informed and guided in making appropriate curriculum choices. Individual learner needs are addressed throughout their time at the centre, supporting their achievements and progression’.
Dr Mike Potter CBE, Transition Principal & Chief Executive at Stockport College said:
