Specialist developer, McCarthy Stone, has submitted plans for a new 54-apartment retirement community on Trinity Gardens, off Bramhall Lane, in Davenport, Stockport.
Alongside the planning application, the developer is hosting a public consultation to engage with local residents about the proposals, both online and at an in-person on June 20th, from 2pm to 7pm at The Brookdale Club and Theatre.
McCarthy Stone are proposing purpose-built scheme that will comprise 54 retirement living apartments across three storeys. Occupiers would also benefit from a 24-hour emergency-call service, landscaped gardens around the site that will retain the majority of existing trees, and easy access to local shops and public transport connections on Bramhall Lane.
The developers, which are also behind the Queen’s View retirement community close to Davenport in Bramhall as well as a scheme on the King’s School site in Macclesfield, estimate that the development could also free up a number of larger family-homes for the local community as older residents look to downsize, as well as meeting the immediate housing need for Stockport’s growing older population.
Ian Wilkins the divisional managing director North, McCarthy Stone, said:
“Our plans provide a fantastic opportunity to deliver much-needed retirement living accommodation in Davenport.
“The site is ideally located with public transport links to local shops and amenities nearby, as well as connections across the region.
“Our proposals for Davenport will help to address a demand for retirement accommodation in the area, providing housing choice for older people, whilst freeing up the wider housing market for local families and first time buyers further down the chain in an area with high demand for these types of homes.”
