The Manchester Evening News have a breakdown of the north west’s richest people, according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2016.
The report says: ‘Property billionaire John Whittaker and brothers Fred and Peter Done were today revealed in the 2016 Sunday Times Rich List.
‘John Whittaker, founder and chair of the Peel Group, which owns MediaCityUK and Port Salford; comes in third place in the north west region.
‘His aviation group owns four airports, including Liverpool John Lennon and his latest plans include Liverpool Waters, a £5.5bn regeneration scheme to create 20,000 jobs, 9,000 houses and 3m sq ft of commercial development.’
The Sale Messenger also report on three of their own on the Rich List.
They report: ‘Simon, Bobby and Robin Arora, from Sale, rank fourth in the region’s richest people in the 2016 The Sunday Times Rich List.
‘The wealthy brothers, who earned their fortune with fast-growing discount retailer B&M, are worth £1.92bn and come in at 55 in the overall list.’
Property Week reports on the ‘rude health’ of the Stockport economy and the £900m investment in the town centre.
It says: ‘They say that you can judge the health of a town’s economy by counting the cranes that pockmark the skyline.
‘If you apply this test to Stockport it’s safe to assume that the town is currently in rude health, with a series of major development projects.’

The Guardian is one of a national papers reporting the closure of Lloyds banks across the UK.
It writes: ‘Lloyds Banking Group is cutting 625 jobs and closing 21 branches as part of ongoing efforts by the bailed-out bank to cut costs.
‘The job losses – which include moving some roles to India – mean 6,325 out of 9,000 post closures announced in 2014 have now been confirmed.’
