A new award created to highlight the best of Stockport’s artisan and creative businesses has attracted over 5,000 public votes.
The Made In Stockport Awards 2021 were set up by local Stockport creative Aqua Design Group to promote and showcase the town’s creative and business community, in particular in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nominations for the awards launched in May, and finalists were chosen by number of nominations they had from public or other businesses.
Finalists were announced in June, with a month of digital voting taking place across nine categories from the 24th September. Winners were announced online on the 22nd October, with the following businesses topping their categories:
- The Produce Hall — Business of the Year
- Jake Shoes — Small Business of the Year
- Where the Light Gets In — Concept of the Year
- Jack’s Bar & Grill — Food Producer of the Year
- Stockport Gin — Drink Producer of the Year
- BakerLou Craft Baker — Best Crafter of the Year
- Minnie and Teds — Business to look out for
- Kate O’Brien Art — Capturing Stockport Award

Following the positive reception for the Made In Stockport Awards’ inaugural contest, organisers, Aqua Design Group, have confirmed the awards will return in 2022 and are inviting other businesses in the borough to get involved and support Stockport’s creative businesses by sponsoring a category next year.
