Stockport based NK Theatre Arts have received a massive 14 nominations in this year’s Manchester Musical Awards, which recognises the achievements of musical societies and theatre companies in the Greater Manchester region.
In September last year, NK were the first company to perform Monty Python’s SPAMALOT in the region upon its release to community groups and secured nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor together with Best Vocal Performance and All Round Performance, whilst the recent production of MADE IN DAGENHAM secured a further ten nominations including the coveted Best Show. This means that the company received more nominations than any other society in Manchester. Both performances were directed by Hannah Gorst, who herself is up for two nominations, for Best Director and Best Choreographer, which she won last year for FAME
“We are delighted to have been nominated in so many different categories this year and are thrilled that all of the hard work the cast and crew have put in this year has been recognised. We are very proud at the sheer volume of our youth theatre members who have come through the training and now take part in these adult productions as exceptional all round performers. It goes to show that Stockport is a thriving area when it comes to Performing Arts. Although there are so many individual nominations, it really is recognition for the company as a whole and everyone is really looking forward to the awards night”.
